Few women’s stories appear in Canadian history books as
their contributions to the War of 1812 are overlooked. Canada’s bicentennial
commemoration is the perfect time to tell about six real women whose husbands
marched off to war to defend the British colonies. These women’s stories are
about bravery, devotion and perseverance.
